The first generation Civics here in Australia had the same washer
bag. Did they have them fitted to the Civics in the US?

window washer bag

Post by JGraf »

Besides being used in early Civics, I believe early Accord hatchbacks used a separate washer bag for the rear glass. They were protected by the plastic interior trim pieces, and since they were not subject to battery acid, engine oil or sunlight they should be in good shape after all these years. Scarcity remains a problem.

You can do it yourself and as an added bonus, using a tinted mirror
will help. Go to Tap Plastics or who ever you have there and get a
piece of mirrored plastic 1/8" thick. Cut it yourself or maybe they cut
it for you. Have an extra 50 made and sell them in the group ! The down
side to that is I have see 2 different sizes of the sedan door mirrors.

I think you are right Kenneth, the Accord Hatch had a washer bag too.
Next time I'm at the wreckers, I'll look out for any.
My brother in law got my last one for his Ford show car. He needed a
washer for the car to be roadworthy but didn't want it seen in the
engine bay so he fitted it in the front kick panel.

hi, all--
i JUST bought a window washer bag on e-bay--type in "window washer bag" in the search window and you'll find a few that will probably work--the one i bought is from a 1985 toyota supra--looks to be in good shape and will probably work just fine--the guy has really good feedback--cost me 25 bucks (a far cry from 125) and even though it doesn't say "honda" on it, it doesn't say "datsun" either actually, it doesn't say anything at all, which i find preferable--if iwere trying to get my car in ABSOLUTELY show condition, obviously this wouldn't be a good solution, but neither would the "datsun"bag--
i'll let you know if it fits and/or works--

IIRC, the original bag didn't have Honda on it either.  But, it does have the washer pump in a sleeve on the bottom.  Good luck.

Thanks so much for the tip. The A-1 Glass shop in La Crosse, Wis.,
would have had it ready overnight. Since I only get there once a week,
they pulled it from the rush pile and will have it for me next
Thursday. And all for $18 plus tax. I did still have the mirror backing
gasket, which helps with the installation.
