year model

Post by oscardouglas99 »

Curious,
My sedan is titled a 1973, I thought 1972 was the last year.

I have car serial # 54386 and it's titled as a 1972 model. I think that
your title would be more of a headache to correct and may open a can of
worms with your MVD office .. let it ride. The selling dealer may have
done it back then intially so it didn't seem like he was selling last
years model or a title transfer/sale down the road may have included a
typo on the year that got by the clerk .. either way, since you have a
legitimate title, I'd just let it be.

I agree with this.
My sedan's title is for a "coupe," but the VINs all match up so I'm not too worried.

my sedan is titled for a 71, but its a 70, the previous owner thought
it was a 71 and told dmv, they wouldnt let me correct it.

I had an AN600B that was registered as a '73. My Honda Z360 Life was
a 1973. Your car may have been sold in 1973 as a left over from
stock. Look at the plate on your door jamb to see the month & year of
mfg.
It would be easy in Calif to change your registration just have the
DMV look at the VIN and then you have to surrender your title, they
give you a new one, probably a fee involved.
If you ever build a custom like a truck from a 600 don't tell the DMV
because you have to get a brake & light inspection and get a weight
certificate to get commercial plates. On the pick up that Betsy has I
told the DMV I wanted to use my car for pizza delivery and wanted
commercial plates so I could park in the loading one. I never told
them it had been converted to a truck. All I had to do was get a
weight cert. and register it as commercial. I bypassed the BS of
Brake & Light inspection.
