Replaced the seats in my 600 Sedan...

Post by misterpoopoohead »

Hi Gang,
I replaced the seats in my 600 sedan with seats from a 1999 Dodge Neon.
I got the idea from another member who put 2000 Dodge Neon seats in a
600 Coupe. The seats look good, fit well, and are very comfortable. I
had to fabricate a simple framework using 1.5" steel angle stock. The
material is 1/8" thick. I was able to reuse the original holes in the
floor of the car for the driver seat. The passenger seat required new
holes to be drilled in the pan about 1.5" from the original holes. All-
in-all it was a bit of work getting everything measured, cut, ground,
and drilled, but totally worth it! The seats are rock solid and don't
bend, flex, or rattle in any way. I'm planning to use the seat belts
from the Neon as well. Oh, I did have to install the seats reversed.
Meaning, I put the driver seat in the passenger space and the passenger
seat in the driver space. They just seem to fit better that way.

That great...did you have any pictures of your work? How did the Neon
seat change your vision in your car? The only problem I see for many
new vehicle seats are that they are too tall. A racing seat would be
lower though...

No pic's, sorry. No change in vision. The seats aren't really much taller than the originals. The fit in the car just fine in height. The new seats are wider. So, I had to make sure they didn't interfere with the doors. They are way more comfortable than the originals. They tilt back and I installed them to allow more leg room. I am a little over 6 feet tall. So, the extra leg room is important. I sit higher up in the car now. But, I really like it.
I highly recommend the upgrade to anyone who has a problem with the original seats. I'm keeping my original seats of course, just not in the car!
