As I am considering the different ways that I can overhaul my dilapidated 600, I have come to
many questions. I am interested more in customizing the car rather than restoring it. I've
been trying to come up with themes. I am open to suggestions.
But I have very much so considered "going green" and a theme to follow that. I have
considered getting an engine or modifying the one that I have to run on ethanol. How would
I do this? Or is this just foolish?

Get 12:1 custom pistons made and jet up your carb 20%. Ethanol has a great octane rating but does not provide more power lb for lb. You need to jet up and expect lower gas mileage because you are using more fuel, but possible more power because of the compression boost. This was talked about on my Mopar V8 board.

I highly doubt your crankshaft would last very long with 12 to 1 compression..

High compression (was Re: Going Green)
I've seen this comment several times. Do folks have any actual
evidence to support this opinion? I'm running well over 13:1 on mine
- granted I run 110 octane, but the original crank holds up just fine.
And I tend to beat the snot out of it on the street.
I thought most failures were oiling related . . . oil not changed
enough, or just plain low in volume.
(Hopefully I didn't just jinx the car! ;-)

I tend to agree that the crank and rods are plenty strong. VW diesel rabbit is almost the same gas motor and it runs way up there as a dielel, just different pistons.
