I got a call from eBay yesterday saying my user name was in violation.
I thought it was a prank phone call so I investigated it further and
found it was true. They were allowing me 24 hours to change my user
name or they were gonna change it for me. So now I'm 600miles600. eBay
store name is still the same at 600 Headquarters. I guess the old user
name will work for 30 days.

eBay User Name Change
Re: eBay User Name Change
Hi Miles:
I received one of the "VIOLATION" e-mail's too. It's a scam to get your
information. I changed my password (which should be done more than we want
to) copied the e-mail to EBAY and went on with life.
This is very common with EBAY and I am surprised you have not received one
before.
Bill

Re: eBay Spoof eMails
Yes, I get the *spoof* emails alot, it used to be 2-3 a week. Got a
bunch from supposedly as PayPal spoofs also. I get them also from
such places as Washington Mutual, Citi-Bank and other places also.
I called eBay directly to make sure and they were really the ones
who had called me. Eventhough I had the user name 600miles_dot_com
for 2 years and even went to eBay Live! in Vegas and San Jose Ca
with that user name no one seemed to claim it as an eBay violation
until a couple days ago.
I couldn't get 600miles.com directly as a user name unless I had
registered it before Nov. 2001. You will see lots of user names with
the .com names.

Re: eBay Spoof eMails
Be careful with ebay spoof emails, i sell alot on ebay and i got an
email this morning, its like ones that i have seen but this one
almost got me. It is an email asking the seller can he purchase the
item, through the ebay mail system. Usually the email is a generic
question to the seller, this time i had one with a question from a
current auction that i have going on, it included the auction
number , discription, and even the item noted in the question. It
was identical to what ebay would send you if someone were to ask
about the item. Only thing that made this one suspicious to me was
the guys question was "will you ship to NJ" made me wonder since its
ebay and the auction has US shiping, why would they ask this.
Moving the mouse cursor over the "Respond Now" button proved to me
that the link it was masked to go to had a proxy server attached.
Just some caution to look out for.
