Honda 600 truck?

Post by luckygoatmaster »

Hello Group,
I know it has been discussed before but here we go
again. I have been offered a Honda 600 Truck. I
haven't gone to look at it yet and the owner does not
have internet access or digital pictures to send if he
did. He has made the statement that he has factory
literature that pictures these trucks. I have owned in
some shape or form a N600 or Z600 since 1988. I have
had a TN7 360cc. I know about the TN series, the T360,
the T500 and the Vamos. I also have Haynes Manuals and
original Honda workshop manuals and none of them
picture a truck. I know Zagato made dune buggies from
Honda 600 components but they are one off vehicles.
Over the phone the owner stated the truck looks just
like the car in the front which rules out every Honda
truck that I know about. This truck apparently has a
wood bed which says late 1970s or early 1980s custom
to me. Honda just doesn't seem to be into the wooden
body mind set.
I'm not opposed to buying a good custom car and I know
of one nice custom N600 truck made from a car that was
hit by a truck.
Can anyone say 100% that Honda did make or did not
make a N600 truck?
I'll take pictures when I look at it but until
then.....

Honda did not make an N600 truck...Many have been created over the years
by enthusiasts who have slipped over the edge!!!
Honda trucks include T series, in 360 and 500 ... P series, in 700 and
800 ... Vamos, 360 engine I believe, and the Life and Acty, Anyone
selling a "Factory" N600 pickup is yanking your chain!!!

Years ago, I saw a 600 sedan that had been turned into a flatbed truck (stake sides on the bed as I recall). I bet this is one of those.

No Honda N600 Trucks were made, pickup or otherwise. They have been
customized into pickup and stake bed configurations almost from the day they
came into the USA. But none came from Honda.

I've seen this too, like a flat bed stake truck/N600.
I didn't pay attention to how the passenger
compartment was finished where the back was removed...
I seem to remember one used by a repair shop in
Berkeley in the 70's-80's.

While on the subject of Honda trucks. I have a T500 which is all in parts. I believe that it is one of only two of these trucks in Australasia, the other being owned by Honda Australia. I have been able to get my hands on a parts book, but would like to locate a workshop manual.
As far as the engine is concerned, I believe it to be the same one as used in the early S coupes. Am I right in this asumption?

Heres a picture, but it's not factory built.

If this N600 Truck conversion looks as good as these
pictures I would buy it.
