batt light on, what to do?
Re: batt light on, what to do do?
In your shop manual you will notice the alternator is made up of 5
seperate units: Volt Reg, Bridge Rectifier, Flywheel, Stator Winding,
& Brushes. You must disconnect all items and test each one to find
the fault. Many times the 3 bolts securing stator to housing come
loose and the flywheel grinds into the stator. Sometimes the
rectifier shorts or something metal falls into it causing failure.
Most times I find the rectifier to be shot. I have all items to
repair your problem, but you should first find the problem. You will
need the special rotor puller tool to replace the stator or flywheel -
they are $15.00 postpaid.
