anyone have an extra generator? 72 coupe

Post by infinkc »

my 72 coupe is not charging its battery, the batt light is on, so it
leads me to believe the generator is dead. Anyone have an extra one
for sale? or know where to get mine repaired? thanks! -Kris

Check the brushes first before you consider replacing the entire system.

I've got several new brush sets, but I'd suggest you check the voltage regulator first and then go from there.  How many miles on the car?
If you need the brushes, e mail me at steven@...

Hi there Kris;
Brushes are a good start. Another is to just unplug and clean the fittings
and plug them back in again while checking for wires with melted insulation.
Then with the voltage regulator unplugged check out the black wire in the
plug, if it's green clean it and then look at the ground wire and unbolt it
clean it and bolt it back to the body. Grounds or the lack of them can
cause all kinds of gremlins to fuss with every part of your electrical
system.
