steering - play

I have about two to three inches of play in my steering. I have
adjusted the rack but still can not get it out. Is there a rebuild
for this, or any advice as to how to fix this problem?

Replace the original rubber bushes for the pinion with bronze
bushes. Greg

If you remove the original bushes from the housing and take them to a
parts supplier they should be able to match something close which
then needs to be machined in a lathe to fit both the housing and
pinion. It's a bit of trouble to go to but you will be very happy
with this permanent fix. I use a clutch shaft spiggot bush from an
Australian GM engine. The bush is located in the rear of the
crankshaft to support the gearbox input shaft and they're readily
available.
