Oil Filters

Post by Q »

Hi all, I have just been dealing with Honda New Zealand to locate
some replacement oil filters. I have also made many enquiries through
spare parts dealers here in Christchurch with no luck.
Well Honda NZ have none in the country. But there is 18 in Japan, they
cost $38.37+GST(12.5%) I have ordered 2, and I get them in a couple
of weeks, but the big question is, does anyone have a souce for
cheaper replacements. Basically somthing cheaper than US$26.00
dollars including postage and packaging.
And does anyone on the off chance have a shop repair manual they
would like to sll? "Honda 360 400 600 Shop Manual" Depends on price
of course, but let us know.
Regards to you all

I just purchased a few at the Honda Motorcycle
dealership. They have however many you want.
$18 or so.

I'm not sure...I just took in one of my NOS and they
matched it up. The only difference I can see is that
it has some sort of coating on the steal part so it is
colored gray. That is it.

No on the early 750 filter. I tried this once, it was just a hair too big.

Oil Filters

Post by Miles »

I called Honda yesterday about the oil filter questions a week ago.
They said current retail is $10.20. WIX had the best replacements
with exact fit o rings but have discontinued them. I was told many
years ago by a guy from South America they have a Honda 450cc
motorcycle that uses the same filter, sorry, I never got the part
number - but I can call you it's not the ones made 1965-1974
CB/CL450. The other option would be using an external filter like in
Bill Colford's oil cooler conversion where oil filter bolt & cup are
converted and external lines run to a remote VW type filter
comprising a $4.oo get anywhere spin on filter.

Miles: I bought several filters from NAPA online part # FIL 1332 at $5.49 each a couple of years ago. Apparently it's a stock item with them.
Best regards

I also bought he NAPA filters a couple of years ago,
they were made by Wix, so if Wix discontinued them,
I'd hurry over to NAPA. Ken

Yes, I got the same ones from NAPA. It's an in-stock item, I ordered mine
online, and had them the next day.

External Oil Filter (was Re: Oil Filters)

I've got to say that Bills kit is pretty cool. Another plus is that it adds extra oil capacity, which helps cooling (even more if you add an oil cooler.)
