Hi folks. I thought I'd pass this along in case it helps anyone else. I
have a 1972 Honda N600 that was originally dark green and had gold colored
carpets. They carpets actually looked more like olive green at this point
in time. I wanted to change them to black since I'm painting the car red soon.
I did a lot of checking around and finally decided to try a product called
VHT part # SP-942 Black Satin. This is a "spray paint" for carpets that
was at my CAP Auto Parts store. The VHT tech folks said that "The VHT
penetrating color dye, when properly applied will not bleed or leave carpet
stiff".
So far so good! It will have taken me three cans to do the front and back
carpets when I'm done, but for $15 I could not be happier. It really looks
great and SO MUCH better than the other color. If you fish around deep
enough in the carpet you can see the gold but that could be solved by
simply doing a deeper spray job with another can. I can honestly tell you
it looks GREAT!
So, if you are like me and want to freshen up the carpets or change the
color to black, I would suggest you give this a shot.
