Really it's both, retorquing the head should be done and it only takes a
single warm up, like the first time you start up your engine after rebuild
to gain the necessary results from a retorque. I used to wait for 500
miles or so, and change the oil at the same time and remove any chips or
sealant picked by the oil. I used to use the High temp copper RTV, but it
takes up to 48 hours after application for it to cure and that's from
Permatex. What Permatex suggested is the RTV Silver which is like your
Honda or Yamaha Bond sealants. It Cures in several hours when the
temperature is at 70 or above. On the Head Gaskets I have made a higher
quality gasket material is used than what other after market head gaskets
are made of. I did this to try and solve the leak problem at the rear of
the engine. But I think Miles suggestion on the rear center cap nuts is the
answer.
