Battery?

Post by Kevin »

Anyone have a recommendation for a replacement battery in my Z600? The
current battery no longer holds a charge. It's an older Panasonic
battery,
but hopefully there's something newer and maybe better.

Ellis,
Depends on how much you want to spend, NAPA has a battery that works well,
you should check the output of the alternator, brushes and voltage regulators
are problem pieces at times. The best source is GILL batteries, they provide
batteries for aircraft and have a cool set up in either lead/acid or ni/cad
both work, the nicad is much less weight but proportinately more money then
the lead acid one, the nicad takes up less room, but requires much more
attention. Gill is on the internet I don't know the url but I'm sure lycos
etc. will have them.
Regards,
Steven

Thanks! This looks like it's the way to go! No more acid spills and No
more having to add water.

Hi Ellis;
Yes, any top connecting series 45 battery will work. Depending on where
you live and the condition of your charging system a battery in the northern
USA will last up to 10 years, while a battery in the south normally gets 5
years. And, Honda again sells a series 45 battery a bit pricey but they
work well.

Re: [2cylinderhondas] Battery?
I get 72 month batteries at Costco for around $35. They say "group size 51" on them and are item # 207150. They seem to last. And if they don't, I'm out less than 40 bucks.
So how about replacement seats for the sedans? My last 600 came with some civic seats that recline. They don't fit well but they're more comfortable than the originals so I've left them. Does anyone have recommendations for after-market seats that fit?

Re: [2cylinderhondas] Battery?
Yes a #51 battery will fit, but it leaves little room for your hand to get a wrench on the crank shaft.  But the cost at Costco, seems to be the right price.

Seats

Sedan seats are plenty comfy if you put a 1x2 strip of wood between
the front rails and the floor. You need to beat the studs out and use
bolts.

Seats

Post by J.D.Long »

I need to replace the seats in my Z.  Some how they were bent where the back rest attaches to the bottom of the seat.  I have not tried to bend them back into shape yet, nor do I think that they will look right if I try. It looks as if a very very large person tried to sit in them both at the same time.  But that's how they were when I got the  car.  I have a N as well and would like to know if the base of the seats are the same in both cars?  It will take some work for me to get the seats out of the N so I thought I would ask here before I start on it.  My guess is that the bolt pattern is the same.
Also, if any one knows what the measurement on the 600Z, from the rear of the hood latch mount to the fire wall is?  I have had to do some major body work on the front end and can't tell if I have the section between the headlight in line.
Thanks, Jason

Seats for sedan are easy to remove, 4 nuts under floor. Coupes mount
with 4 bolts on top of floor. I have 2 good front seats that came out
of my coupe and they have straight tilter brackets and sliders but
will need some of Bill's spiffy seat covers or some aftermkt covers
off eBay. $25ea. + shipping.
I am also ready to chop up my Honda 600 coupe body shell if anyone
wants to reserve sections. Scheduled to chop it on saturday and the
body sections go to the dump. There is no roof as this is the one
that was made into a convertible.
