Hello everyone, Has anyone ever towed a trailer with a 600?
What would be the maximum weight suggested?
Im thinking about towing a trailer with my Vespa 400 on it. I figured the trailer and cars total weight would be 1000 pounds, and the total weight of passengers would be about 300 pounds. What do you think? Good idea, or bad idea?

I wouldn't go up any steep hills, but if it's mostly flat terrain, you're probably ok.

My N600 towing our 'wacky-wheel' trailer.� �We just scoot around town, never on highways, and never much more than 3 or 400 pounds back there counting the trailer !� �This old 1950-something Sears trailer connects to the car at two hinge points on the bumper, and the trailer wheel is on a 360 degree swivel.� �Probably not comparable to what you want to do, but proof the little car can pull !

We dont ever take her Honda on expressway. Its strictly around town. Many times we like to take both cars to car shows, but unfortunately theres only one driver in the house, and its not me!

Bad idea
The car already has anemic performance when it just has a driver. The Honda spec say there should not be more than 2000 pounds on the axles of an AN600. The car weighs about 1200 pounds empty and you want to add 1300 pounds which brings the total to 2500 pounds. Even though the car is not seeing this weight on its four tires because you have a trailer, the braking system is going to have to stop 2500 pounds of weight at speed. While you might be ok at 20 mph, I see big problems if you are trying to drive at 55 mph.

Hmmm, I never thought of a towbar. Thats very interesting idea! Although, dont most towbars clamp to the bumpers? There isnt much space between the bumpers in the bodies on either one of these cars.

Years ago, I had a towbar built specifically for N/Z 600s with jaws that gripped the bumper. Bad idea, as most of the Hondas have front end tweaks with compromised bumpers.

Back in the '80s we would use my sedan which was amazing and would do
all kinds of stupid stuff with. It was a '72 with a '70 trans which gave it a pushing & pulling advantage
because of the trans is geared lower. We used to tow rope cars across the valley - Palo Alto to Santa Clara
for instance but upon ariving back the oil that was pooled up on the top case would be literally boiling.
Later I got, and still have a towing attachment for sedan, it's well made and I towed once to the dump about 500
pounds of weight but the problem there was stopping the rig. Once you push past the brake booster part of
your pedal there's not much stopping left.

chuck u can have one made to hook to the frame back side of bumper I had one on my n600 use to pull it behind my 4x4 to get oil changes and such drive car off its not real hard to make one u also can buy a nice one have it made to fit car good welding shops can do that but that's the way I pull the car don't need a big trailer umm I live were lots of motor homes pull there cars u will also have to get lights they don't cost a lot but u have to wire that to the n600 not hard harbor fright u can get lights with wires
