Honda Z600 cam chain slipper and guide roller assemblies needed. Ple
Okay, so I have finally found enough time to dig into my Honda Z600 engine, and as I suspected the cam chain guide rollers and cam chain tensioner slipper have disintegrated, allowing the cam chain to jump the teeth on the timing sprockets. The pistons did touch the intake valves, and may have bent one or both of them, so I will have to address that as well, but the piston was not damaged, so I suspect that it only collided while we were turning the engine over carefully by hand.
I have a number of questions, and would really appreciate any help that any members could provide.
1) Does anyone have the following parts available for sale, or does anyone know of a source for these parts, either NOS (preferable) or good used?
a) Upper cam chain guide roller assembly and pin,
b) cam chain slipper assembly and pins (2),
c) lower cam chain guide roller assembly and pin.
d) complete engine gasket set
e) intake valves
f) are any of these guide roller assemblies or can chain slippers shared from motorcycle applications?
2) The aluminum recesses which holds the pins for the upper guide roller assembly has been elongated. Is it possible to build up this area, or to use a larger pin, or do I need to source a new or good used cylinder block and head assembly? Does anyone have these parts available?
3) Is it possible to replace the lower cam chain guide roller assembly without actually splitting the crankcases? (it does not appear to be possible to do this)
4) Is it possible to replace the roller sprocket only, and leave the arm intact, thereby allowing the replacement to occur without splitting the cases?
I have not yet split the cases, as I have not yet removed the engine from the car, but will try to do that when I get another free day. In the meantime, I would live to start to source the parts.
Please respond to chasgould@... or on list.
Thank you in advance for any help or advice which you can offer.

Re: Honda Z600 cam chain slipper and guide roller assemblies needed.
Good morning Dean,
I would be so grateful if you do have the cam chain slipper, and I am happy to pay a fair price for it, or to return the favor if I can ever help you with anything. Please let me know as soon as you have a chance to look through the boxes. I may have also found the lower guide roller assembly, so I may only have to hunt for the upper guide roller assembly now.
My address is listed below, and I am happy to pay shipping. Please let me know whether to Paypal you at this email address, and how much to send.
Thank you so much.

Re: Honda Z600 cam chain slipper and guide roller assemblies needed.
Good morning Bill,
Thank you so much for your prompt response and for the helpful advice.
I really appreciate it. I do intend to split the cases, and I will
know more about what I need once I am in there. It did not appear as
though the engine had overheated, as the block internals do not seem
to be black, but I will have a closer look when I have more time.
I do think that I will purchase the heavy duty cam chain from you, but
I am sure that I will need several other parts once I tear into it, so
I will order all at the same time. Please save a cam chain for me.
Do you have a source for the cam clipper or cam guide rollers or
sprocket assemblies. I may have found a used slipper, but are you
suggesting that I not use it?
I will keep you posted as I progress.
Thanks again,
Chas

Re: Honda Z600 cam chain slipper and guide roller assemblies needed.
Chas,
The slipper pin holding points on the block can easily be fixed with a little tedious work. I had mine welded up, and then I remade the pin spots with a dremel tool.
Cam chain parts are the most difficult to find, in my experience. Just keep an eye on Ebay. When something comes up, it's often purchased pretty quickly. Ray Cave is a good source for parts on Ebay.
Also, I would recommend opening up the rest of your block simply to clean it out. My cam rollers and slipper was totally eaten up, and I found pieces of them throughout the block. It's not that difficult to open up the gear box and put it back together when you get it all cleaned up.
Good luck.
-Mike.

Re: Honda Z600 cam chain slipper and guide roller assemblies needed.
Hey Chas- the slipper I have for you is ok- I'd run it in my motor.. but if want a REALLY nice one that looks virtually new, Ray Cave has one (actually several- from 'worn' to wow!) on his ebay auction for $99.00. A bit expensive, but may put your mind at ease. I'm at work and don't have the link (blocked), but his best slipper is on one of the last few pages of his auction..
