Coupe and Sedan Values page

Post by mterrens »

I wanted to check on Honda 600 values and went to my own page...
http://www.honda600coupe.com/Honda_600_ ... alues.html
...and found that the links didn't work anymore!  It seems NADA changed their website around, so the links were no longer good.  I re-did the page with new links and all is well again (in case you were looking)

Mark;
NADA, Blue Book or Old Cars Weekly do list the value of modified vehicles.   They all have unrestored, not a parts car or a vehicle that can't be driven on the street.  But because most of these publications list what many believe are classic, or special interest vehicles a daily driver does not come into their pricing.
So, although dual sidepipes and spud-diggers are your thing, and have value, it's very hard to classify them.

Installation of oil pressure gauge

Post by Philip Apronti »

Dear members:
I would like to install an oil pressure gauge on my N600 and would be grateful if any could give me tips on what and how to do it.
I intend to buy a gauge from m local auto patrs supply store.
Look forward to the advice.
Thanks.
Philip.

Philip I believe that you will need to install an external oil filter and put the pressure gauge along the line.  I dont think there is any place on the motor to do it.  But I may be wrong.

I can understand the desire to have an oil pressure gauge, but lets say you get one and you find that you run 5 psi at normal speed (maybe that's ok, I have no idea). What will you do in that case... I am kind of saying that what use will it be since you aren't going to be able to change it. Remember this engine has roller bearings on rods and mains. My guess is you won't see a lot of oil pressure. plus, where would you put the gauge that it would look good?

Re: Installation of oil pressure gauge

I can see where it would come in handy if you are driving and it goes to "0".  It would be nice to have some warning of no oil pressure instead of a lot of noise coming from the engine.  I dont have one but maybe some day when I do a external oil filter.  right now I just have an oil temp gauge.

I have been driving air cooled cars for decades, and the only  gauge I ever found to be really useful on an air cooled engine is a head temp gauge,as the head temp is the thing that can change radically.

Re: Installation of oil pressure gauge

Post by Philip Apronti »

Thanks Brad:
    Here is my problem.
I have a lot of engine noise and our local specialist thinks it is the chain slapping something since the plastic roller was worn a year ago, or a thrown rod or bad bearing.
The noise seems to come from the upper engine and a gauge would give the general health of the engine.
I really do not know what to do.
Philip.

Re: Installation of oil pressure gauge

Post by Philip Apronti »

Hi Tom:
Thanks for your input,
I do have excessive engine noise, it seems to be the chain.
With an oil pressure gauge I would be able to tell what is happening to the engine.
If I have to do extensive work to attach it then I may have to abandon the idea.
PHILIP.
