Heater & cooling system

Post by lyletrudell »

Bill, was talking about keeping the Honda warmer in the winter by blocking off the front grille. We used to use cardboard to block the radiator when I lived in Buffalo,NY. and studded snows.
But, since I live in Florida now, a heater is the last thing on my mind. 93 today with high humidity.
I want to remove the heat exchanger and run a header.
I still want the heater fan blowing air into the car, any air flow is better than nothing.
A/C is out of the question with only 36 HP it would stall the engine!
What is the oval tube that goes into the fan housing for?
It looks like the fan would cause a vacuum and pull air out of the car?
Also want to remove the sheet metal plate that blocks 1/2 the fan outlet, for better engine air cooling.
Any input would be helpful, want to stay cool.

I wonder what is stopping Auto. design engineers from developing an air conditioning system of the Electrolux absorbtion type ? The engine exhaust system should be able to supply more than enough heat !

This is the smallest A/C compressor I know of.
I adapted this to fit in my Opel GT.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AC-COMPR ... ccessories
Probably still too much HP drain for our Honda's.
I really don't need A/C, just want to get the fan working as best I can, with no heat exchanger to get the engine compartment hot.
I want all the heat out the exhaust system!

Lyle, Talking of HP drain on such a little engine.
I have to admit to planning to play a balancing act with one of my engines. I am going to try to at least idle it on a self generated HHO gas mix. I am rewinding a small permanent magnet servo motor to use as a high efficiency alternator driven from a toothed pulley grafted to the fan drive pulley...................dont laugh.

Marshall, are you related to the scientist from the "back to the future" movie? That is a compliment, I like that guy.
Glad to have other people doing unusual things.
I like you Honda 600 owners, clever.....

Uh, you drive a Honda 600.  People are already pointing.  What harm could a little experimenting under the hood do?
If that HHO thing pans out you must make a full report.
