Well looks like i may be getting a gas tank built for me.. They say the
other one can be fixed but it would be a good idea to keep the gas tank
full.. I could line it but it seems like it would be hard to get all
the inside coated when you can't see it becuse of the baffles. So i am
getting a price. There is a renew that can be done for a price between
i think $275 to $475 but i can get a new one for less...I will let
everyone know as it goes along..

Re: Gas Tank
Just finished cleaning my tank and it was really worth the little
time
it took. I was constantly getting a clogged line right at the fuel
tank. Found mountains of rust inside, and with Bill's advise, did a
proper restoration as we all should. Easy, but dirty and messy job.
I took extra time for etch to get all rust cleaned out and dried.
Then applied sealer to the whole inside of the tank and let it dry
for a week (it only needs a couple of days to dry) Sanded and
painted the outside of the tank and am really pleased with the
finished product.
I used Bill Hirshmans etch and sealer and spent around $35 with
shipping.
I thought before doing this that I had bad lines, bad fuel pumps, bad
filters, because the fuel just wasnt flowing the way it should. Even
blew out the line backwards from the filter to the tank with
compressed
air and it helped only for a few days. Then the outlet line from the
tank became super clogged and restoration was in order. Good thing,
because that loose rust wasnt going anywhere except to my fuel filter.
Thanks to Bill and others for the advise. Paint and body is next.

Re: Gas Tank
SEEMS like the middle part of mine is bad with a lot of holes in it
and some big enough to weld/braze or whatever and more concered about
the strength of that part.. might be just redoing the middle and
bottom and fixing the top. Still waiting on Prices. I am concered
about how strong the middle section is, even if it gets sodiered. I
did the etch allready on it (that when i found all small leaks).
