hello all, this is my first post and i have look befor to see one but
i have not so here it goes. I am 17 years old and have jsut got my
first N600. its a 71. i ahev been a ahond fan most of my life, but
that is not why i am here. i want to know if it is possible to use a
carb off a motorcycle of some sort that is a little larger to get
more air and fuel to the engine. i have two motors that came with
the car. one i plan on keeping stock, but the other i want to tinker
with. i am in the midst of looking for an old BMW cycle with a
turbo, i know i know, it problable not work, but i have done a few
turbo projects on other hondas and will try. anywho thanks for all
your help.

different larger carbs.
Re: different larger carbs.
Yes - you can run a larger carb, but there often needs to be a reason to use the extra air - larger cam, more open exhaust, electronic ignition (to get higher RPM w/o point float where you could then use the extra CFMs) etc..
As for turbo - would be cool, but the one item I was never sure about - enough oiling. From what I know, most turbos are cooled by either water or oil - plus use the oil for lubrication . . . and the oil for the '600 runs at a real real low pressure. Plus being air cooled they are prone to heat soak. (We've seen it on the dyno w/o a turbo.)
Don't let me rain on your parade - it will just take some research and I'm sure it can be done.

Re: different larger carbs.
By the way, has anyone ever tried using and electric ignition, if so
could you give me an idea on what to use and how to do it? also,
what if i run a nos kit. i figure can find a really small fogger and
the air temp would be real low, i have been an import fan for a long
time an want to try to incorperate the performance tech. of them to
the 600 motor. any other suggestion on performance would be awsome.
sorry about the bad type i am at school and in a rush.
thanks

Electronic Ignition (was Re: different larger carbs.)
A few years back we converted an optical pickup from Crane conversion
kit to fit where the points go. It used a disk with two slots cut in
it that triggered an MSD ignition box. You lose the mechanical
advance, but you really don't need that for a performance set up.
I've been meaning to post details for a while now, but need to get my
scanner back up and have some spare time. Got rid of the point float,
but also wasn't that cheap to do. Only worthwhile if you have other
modifications IMHO.
