Used Miles method of soldering a brass plate to the tank, so far works
like a charm. I cant figure out my charging problem, the brushes are
brand new, when i test the generator according to the manual its
giveing me some type of readout, but i am not sure if it is right, Is
there an easy way to diagnose the problem? i cant wait to drive my car
again. -Kris

charging problem!

There's 5 seperate components in the charging system: The armature
which acts as the starter ring gear & flywheel for the car, the stator
winding which is the ring of wires which is bolted to the engine case
below the flysheel, the rectifier which is mounted under under the
battery and the voltage regulator which to date I have not been able
to test on my own and the brushes.
To test your alternator you must unplug ALL the wires then proceed.
The test values are given in the shop manual but I generally only test
for continuity and short to ground on the flysheel & stator and
polarity/reverse polarity on the rectifier. Too much for me to type,
maybe Bill or someone has the directions on the web or you are welcome
to call me for instructions.
