flywheel removal

Post by rustyandtuffy »

Is there anyone out there who can tell me how to remove the flywheel from a
N600 engine? I've tried everything and it won't budge. I even went to the
main library and tried to find what the procedure was in the 360/400/600
manual they have as reference. Ten pages are missing and they are the pages
I need to see. When I called a local Honda dealer and asked if they knew
what kind of tool was needed, a guy in the service department laughed and
told me to check with a motorcyle dealer.

To safely remove the flywheel you need the special tool that Honda
has discontinued. Send me $15.00 and I will send you one, I had some
made but am running low (used to sell for $10.00). You will notice
threads in the end of your flywheel where the pulley goes thru.
Thread in the special tool and the flywheel pops off.

If you lighten the flywheel the car won't go up hills, I found this
to be true when I lightened mine by removing the windings and put an
external alternator on. Revs fast but no hill climbing. The flywheel
itself isn't heavy, but the huge bundle of copper & steel is.
