Hey Kurt - there is a Les Schawb nearby (here in northern Calif). In addition to removing tire and re-mounting, did the $25 per wheel include powder coating?

Damn I got mine done for $25 a rim. If your doing the stock steel wheels you can go to Les Schawb, if you are in a state where they are at and those are $20 each through them and they will brake them down and re-mount them as well. $350 ouch. $150 for 4 rims and my front grill

Tires / Rims
Re: Tires / Rims
Yes, there may have been a little extra in there for mounting due to new valve steams and one of mine needs a tube cause it would not hold air. I'm in Nor cal too, les Schawb sends them to some place in Oregon. That's there going rate steel wheels are $20-$25 and all other wheels are $75 each. It took almost 2 weeks The place I took my mag wheels and grill to was in north Sacramento area off Auburn and Garfield. APC XXX-XXX-XXXX Kurt
Re: Tires / Rims
i went to Walmart but they couldnt do it because the rims were to small so i went to Tires Plus-they didnt give me a clear estimate and i ended up having to pay $104. That didnt put the tires on the car. They even charged for the weights they put on. If the tires wouldnt have been so hard to come by that serrvice manager would have had them where the sun dont shine.

Re: Tires / Rims
Check your rims, have the shop run them on the balance machine to make sure they are not bent.
Also, bring along a web type tie down. The one that will ratchet tight. Use it on your tire to spread the tire on the rim.
Most shops don't have the air belt that pulls the tire against the rim.
http://www.amazon.com/Ken-Tool-31433-Pn ... B000J1Y31W
like this one that is pneumatic. I find the web belt is easier to use and will do just as good a job as the pneumatic belt will do.
Also, Coker tire has "Port-a White Walls" that give your car the classic look.

Re: Tires / Rims
It's water over the dam now, but I'd recommend checking out a smaller, non-chain tire outfit next time around. That's the sort of place I went to after I'd ordered my new tires online and needed them mounted and balanced. The outfit charged me a total of $20 to mount -- and balance -- all four tires, and I hadn't even bought the tires through them! (I even offered to pay them more to make it worth their while since I hadn't bought the tires from them, but they refused any more money.) Also, there was no problem with the size of the tires and wheels -- they dealt with them just fine.
If you go to a place that deals with all sorts of tires, including boat and utility trailers and lawn tractors, they should have all the equipment needed to handle your Honda 600 wheels. The chain places are often set up to deal with run-of-the-mill car and truck tires only.

Ok, always learning something new, well maybe....
Tire shop took tires off but informed me ahead of time, that because the tires were over 10 years old, that they, and most of the 'big' tire shops would not remount them. As I needed the tires off to take rims to get powder coated, I went ahead and had it done.
To my surprise (but maybe I shouldn't have been), all 4 tires had inner tubes. The tires are michelin 145 SR10 ZX. The tire does not have "tubeless" on it anywhere, so are these tires suppose to have inner tubes? Or, are the tubes used to deal with a broken bead (looks like 2 tires have mangled bead due to who know what and when)?

Re: Tires / Rims
I would just put new tires back on. Coker has them in stock and will ship them to you door step and then you will most Likely never need to worry about that part again. I had to put a tube in one of my new tires cause it would not seal properly.

Tube question: Is there any negative effect to putting tubes into "tubless" tires?

Re: Tires / Rims
New tires is probably the best solution. The date of manufacture on the 4 Michelin tires (made in Belgium) are
A10 x 135 (the 13th week of 1995?)
A10 x 464 (the 46th week of 1994?)
A4M x 131 (the 13th week of 1991?)
A4M x 111 (the 11th week of 1991?)
I took a look at Coker and they have a Kingstire for $65 -
http://www.cokertire.com/kingstire-145-80r10.html
and the Vredestein Sprint Classic for $87.
Leaning towards the Kingstire.
