My take on this is I wear a pro mask (filter cover, filter, carbon filter – two canisters each side – you can’t even smell paint fumes) which I’m pretty happy nothing like asbestos would get in. Work outside and when done use a vacuum with good filtration and vacuum up all the dust/grindings. I do this when preparing for welding anyhow just to remove all the metal, dust and sharp bits to keep things clean. If your outside work floor is vacuumed down and the car is stripped and any areas on the car vacuumed where dust could settle, and you wore a mask, I’m guessing you’d probably be okay.
