THIS IS MY FIRST POST ON THE SITE SO I WANTED TO INTRODUCE MYSELF .
I AM DAVID "RIMSPOKE" BROWER FROM WAKE FOREST , NC .
I AM A TOOL & DIE MAKER BY TRADE & HOMESPUN ENGINEER AT NIGHT .
I HAVE HAD A LIFELONG INTEREST IN MICROCARS HAVING OWNED NUMEROUS ISETTAS
MESSERSCHMITTS & SUBARU 360's AMONG OTHERS
MY LATEST PROJECT INVOLVES MATING A MESSERSCHMITT TIGER WITH A HONDA 600 .
THE CHASSIS IS FROM A KR-200 3 WHEELER . THE TIGER BODY IS MADE OF FIBERGLASS
REPRO PANELS . THE DRIVETRAIN IS FROM A HONDA 600 SEDAN .
THE CHASSIS TO MAKE IT A 4 WHEELER IS COMPLETELY HOME MADE .
MY MOTOR IS A FRESH REBUILD FROM MIKE O'CONNOR . BUT I AM FINDING THAT IT
WILL NEED A FEW CHANGES TO FIT IN THE SMALLER CAR . ( & 500 POUNDS LIGHTER ! )
THE HONDA ENGINE SEEMS IDEAL BECAUSE OF THE LAYOUT . IT IS IN THE REAR
ON MY CAR MAKING IT A MID-ENGINE . IT IS ALREADY GEARED FOR 10" WHEELS
AND NOT ONLY IS IT AIR COOLED BUT IT SUCKS RATHER THAN BLOWS THE AIR THROUGH
THE ENGINE MEANING THERE IS NO EQUIPMENT ON THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR .
CLEARLY THERE WILL BE COOLING ISSUES SO ONE OF THE THINGS I AM TRYING OUT IS
WHAT MY SON CALLS THE WIND TUNNEL .
THIS INVOLVES REMOVING THE ORIGINAL BOAT PROP FAN AND REPLACING IT WITH TWO
SMALLER FANS THE EACH BLOW OUTWARD . THEY WILL BE DRIVEN OFF THE ORIGINAL
FAN PULLEY BUT THE BELT WILL OPERATE IN A NORMAL PLANE .
THE TWO FANS HAVE A LEFT& RIGHT HAND HELIX SO THEY CAN BE MOUNTED ON A
COMMON SHAFT . EACH HAS IT's OWN BEARING AND THERE WILL BE A THIRD BEARING
FOR DIRECT SUPPORT OF THE DRIVEN PULLEY .
TOGETHER THE FANS SHOULD MOVE MORE AIR THAN THE STOCK SINGLE ONE .
WHEN I SEAL UP THE LEAKS IN THE SHROUDING , IT SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO COOL IT
EVEN IN THE BACK OF THE CAR .
THE NEW AIR BOX WILL ALLOW ME TO MOUNT THE CARBURETOR SO IT IS LEVEL .
THIS WILL FIT MORE NICELY WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE BODYWORK .
IT ALSO WILL SEND THE EXHAUST HOT AIR DIRECTLY OUT THROUGH THE REAR
WHEEL OPENINGS .
THIS IS THE THIRD HONDA TIGER TO BE BUILT THAT I AM AWARE OF .
ONE IS CURRENTLY RUNNING AROUND GERMANY . THE SECOND ONE IS IN THE NETHERLANS
BUT IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION & THEN THERE IS MINE HERE IN THE STATES .
I HAVE POSTED SOME PHOTOS OF THE WIND TUNNEL SETUP FOR YOUR CRITIQUE .
I WILL BE WORKING ON MAKING THE AIR BOX FROM METAL SOON BUT THERE
ARE LOTS OF THINGS TO DO LIKE SHORTENING THE AXLES AND BUILDING THE REAR SUSPENSION .

Welcome aboard Dave, I am so impressed with the design and engineering of your new double fan cooling set up. The machining is gorgeous, and it should do a fantastic job of keeping the little 600 Honda engine cool. It will be a tight squeeze, but once installed, that little Honda angine will make the TG500 replica really scream. Keep us posted on your progress and updated with more photos.

THERE IS NO WAY THAT I CAN MAKE MINE SOUND LIKE THAT , BUT WITH 36 HORSES , HUGE DISC BRAKES AND A FULLY SYNCHRONIZED TRANSMISSION , I JUST MAY BE ABLE TO SHOW YOU A NICE SET OF TAIL LIGHTS .
WITH THE VALUE OF THE REAL TIGERS CLIMBING LIKE A ROCKET , THERE IS NO WAY I CAN AFFORD ONE SO I WILL HAVE TO SETTLE FOR THE BEST ONE I CAN BUILD MYSELF .
I HAVE A CLEAR TITLE FOR THE 1959 KR-200 TUB IT IS BEING BUILT AROUND SO IT WILL BE CLASSIFIED AS AN ANTIQUE . I ALREADY HAVE A 1959 TG-500 LICENSE PLATE FOR IT .

WIND TUNNEL
I POSTED A FEW NEW PICTURES OF THE WIND TUNNEL .
THE MAIN PLENUM IS DINE IN METAL NOW ,
I AM SO GLAD TO BE PAST THE CARDBOARD STAGE .
I KNEW I WOULD HAVE TRANSMISSION & CARB CLEARANCE PROBLEMS
BUT THEY WERE WORSE THAN EXPECTED .
IT TOOK QUITE A BIT OF HAMMER & DOLLY WORK TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUES .
& TO THINK I WAS CONTEMPLATING BIGGER FANS ! I THINK I FOUND THE LIMIT ON THIS .
IT IS NICE TO SEE JUST WHERE THE TWO PULLEYS WILL BE AND FINALLY BE ABLE
TO MEASURE THEM FOR A BELT ( 30" ) THERE WILL BE AN ADJUSTABLE IDLER THAT
WILL BEND THE LOWER PART OF THE BELT OUT OF THE WAY OF THE STARTER & DIPSTICK .
THERE IS STILL AN OUTER BEARING SUPPORT BRACKET TO BE MADE AND A NEW
DESIGN FOR THE OUTER SHROUDS .
