howdy, has any body had a starting problem where the stater does not kick in. Its like you do not turn the key completly off each time. Starter battery test good. any ideas?
Thanks...

Re: starting...
First thing you want to do is to check all of your ground wires. I seems like that is most of the problems when the battery is good.
also check for loose wires to the starter.
Tom
also check for loose wires to the starter.

Re: starting...
I've had the starter solenoid contacts burn several times. I just take it apart and dress up the surfaces. New contacts would be nice but hard to come by I would think.

Hi r-savard;
Both T om and Bob have come up with great check points, but don't forget the back side of the ignition switch. Unscrew it from the key way and see if the bake-a-lite board is loose. I pull them tight in a vice (carefully so they don't crack) then using a spring loaded punch give them a punch on each tab (again with a whole bunch of caution) tapping them with a screw driver never seemed to make it work but that loaded punch is quick and keeps them down.
If it's the solenoid, Bob is correct but some times even with good contacts it just doesn't have the pull it once had. There is a place in Arizona called Marks One that can rebuild the solenoid and the Bendex.
But if it doesn't click at all, it could be any of them.

Re: starting...
I changed the starter and solenoid and it acted the same, ignition switch is next.
