Lyle's Coupe almost ready for the road!

Post by Lyle »

Been slow at work, so back to working on my coupe again.
I have been driving around the parking lot and local side streets near my shop. It's fun to drive, Not fast, but fun!
The gear shift is strange the way it rotates and moves into gear. The clutch is good and it pulls off the line pretty "quick" 1st gear is really low. Handles good since I put new bearings in the front drivers side hub. Brakes are good, new sleeved master cylinder and all new parts. Engine runs good, idles smooth at about 1,500 and revs up pretty strong.
Have to put in the windshield and finish headliner install.
Have to finish my front carpet piece.
Need to re-chrome/paint my round coupe side emblems?
Getting close!

Glad to hear your almost on the road with it. They are such a blast to drive, and the shifters are great. Being a guy that's owned hundreds of cars (and drove them all like I stole them) I still think the Honda 600 is the most fun of them all.
My turbo 600 project is still on hold, I have been too busy with my shop and have several other projects I am working on,and I started a new project. Building a monster VW Bus. I used to have a monster VW Pickup and sold it years ago, now that my daily driver is a VW Bus, I am getting back into them. Maybe sometime later in the year I will get back on the 600.
You need to post some pics of yours, sounds like you did a pretty nice job on it,would love to see it.  Brad From:

Hi Brad, you have to many projects like me, keeps us young. The VW is popular around here, lots of modified beatles and buses, some are really quick. I am going to the drag strip tomorrow to see how fast my GSXR-750 is in a 1/4 mile, why I don't know. Then Friday I pick up my new project a 1977 Triumph 750 Bonneville. I will post some pictures next week of my coupe, it turned out real nice, way more work than I thought it would be! Another Honda 600 saved and back on the road soon.
