Ignition wires

Post by kevin.gailey »

Gents, I am having a hard time making sense of wiring diagram provided. All I need is which color goes to which color on ignition. Wasn't there when I bought it. for example yellow to ? Red to? red/black to?. This is a 72 coupe.
Thanks, my eyes are ready to pop out!

It's Alive!

Post by kevin.gailey »

---
Got it! Its alive! After 10 years sitting. Thought I might have made a mistake buying this thing, now a compression check. Fixed the fuel pump, switched ignition from parts car to viable one, cleaned the tank, new oil, and kept turning over but did not start. I pulled the plugs and they were not correct, so I went to Autozone and they had the NGK's BEP7S ($2.09 a piece )Varoom! Now rebuild brakes, fix obvious hole in exhaust and see if this thing is roadworthy.
Tim Ming told me to notch the bolts holding the ignition on the column with a hacksaw in order to get a screwdriver on it. This seemed like alot of work to get a screw driver on it. But I used my dremel with a cutting wheel, it took literally 30 seconds each bolt. I reused the bolts and now I can take off the ignition anytime with a screwdriver.
I am going to follow the Steve's 600 instructions of soaking master, wheel cylinders and parts in water. Is this worth it or should I just buy rebuild kits for brake system.
Again, I am in Sacramento and have a parts car, come on over and give me some advice and leave with what you want.
Updated soon, damn thats a good feeling when it comes alive!

I let them soak in brake fluid.  You need to disassemble the units and determine if the reason they are not working is because they are gunked up with solidified brake fluid (looks like dried rubber cement) or corrosion of the valves and bores.  Many times all it will need is a cleaning.  Miles (600miles.com) was selling the "rubber" parts to fix the brake units if they need replacement.
good luck,
