Does anybody know if the dash and gauge cluster for the coupe will fit
and work in the sedan?

Are you trying to put the 3 gauge set into sedan?  The sedan has 2 gauges (fuel, speedometer) while the coupe has 3 gauges (fuel, speedometer, tach).  I believe the speedometer gear in the engine of the 1970 AN600  was different than the gear in the 1971 & 1972 years.
So,  the speedometer for the coupe would work with the 71 and 72 sedan.  If you add the coupe tach assembly to your sedan engine,  then you could use the coupe tachometer.  Regarding the fuel meter,  I am not sure if the sending unit on the coupe and sedan have the same specs.
You would need to customize your sedan dashboard to accept the tach guage.....it looks like the holes for the sedan's two gauges would accommodate the coupe's tach and speedo gauges.
good luck,
Dale

Dale;
As to the Speedometer gear and transmission for all Sedans built in April 1971 and after, have engine numbers 15 as the first two numbers (all Coupes were built starting in April 1971 and on, with the first two numbers as 25)  for the USA.   This means that they came with a full synchro transmission.  3rd and 4th gears being over drive gears.  All Sedans built before April 1971 were designated with engine numbers beginning with 10, meaning that they came with the constant transmission and only have 4th as an overdrive gear.  The Speedometers with work with either of the engines as the gear in the transmission makes the difference.
Now some Coupes were built with the constant transmission to be sold in other countries.  France is one and I am sure there were others.

I've always wanted a tach in my sedan....
Does anyone one have an aftermarket solution?

If you don't mind doing the cosmetic detail work,  you could put the 3 gauge cluster from the coupe into your sedan.  You would need to add the mechanical tach drive to your cam housing.   An easier solution would be to add an electronic tach which gets its input from the distributor.
Just make sure the tach you buy has a setting for a 2 cylinder engine to read the rpm correctly.
good luck,
Dale

Well that answers one of my questions! ....With the exception of dual antennas, ( I added one to the passenger side) , I don't add-on or modify to the extent it can't be easily undone and restored to stock.
I've looked at tachs at AutoZone and alike.... but never saw on compatable with 2 cylinders.
Guess I'll have to look again !?
Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan,
I saw some tachs which might work on Jegs website (click here ).  I was looking at the digital readout ones but they may have an analog one.  I would expect other stores (e.g. AutoZone,  CSK) to carry tachs which would work.  I noticed on Jegs site one tach which indicated it was intended for a 2 cylinder engine.
Other than motorcycles,  how many 2 cylinder engines are found in cars.
good luck,
Dale

Thanks much Dale,
I'll check it out!
And if all goes well next week..... after 27 years.... my "HELMET" may finally have a baby sister!
Located a 71 Sedan in remarkably excellent condition, show quality with some TLC, elbow grease and a few extra bucks.... (even by Tim Mings standards)....
and hope to be adding it to the the 600 Owners Roster, along with a few pics.
thanks again, Dan
