vintage look radio

Hello,
We're really starting to make progress on resurrecting our AN-600, and
while we're still a long way from interior details, I'm starting to
think about how the dash will look. Does anyone have a suggestion for
a vintage look stereo (preferably with CD and iPod jack) that would
look proper in an N600 dash?

I was going to leave the stock deck, and put a small amplifier behind the dash and run JUST an iPod off of it.
Baring that I was going to leave the stock deck and mount an�after-market deck that is hidden either under the seat or up under the dash where you can't see it.
Another cool thing would be to use a non-functioning stock deck as a sort of face plate that flips up revealing the afterkmarket unit but that seemed like it may be too difficult.
I hate the look of most head units, as they date the car (usually in a bad way) and look tacky.

I would recommend what they do on that show "overhaulin" on TLC.  Leave the stock radio in the dash and put a new on in the glove box.

If your stock radio includes FM, the best bet would be to go to an FM transmitter that plays MP3s. That's all I listen to now.
