I came across a Z600 parked outside a repair shop in Beaufort SC.
It is yellow (original paint I think) which needs a respray. The
interior is very tatty - could not tell the color of the seats, they
are so torn up. The dash top is badly split in a number of places.
It ran 3 months ago for the half hour drive to the repair shop, but
the brakes are binding and gas is leaking near the engine. All the
trim is intact except for the gas filler flap which is missing. All
glass looks OK. The car has surface rust (not a real problem)
everywhere, but has bad rust at the bottoms of both doors (bad)
It is a one lady owner car, don't know mileage.
She was offered $1,500.00 a few weeks back, but says she wants a
little more.
Any Ideas on what I should offer? And do you think I should take it
on, or buy it as parts and look for another one (are there any out
there looking for a good home).
I look forward to any advice I can get.
Thanks
Basil
What should I offer?
Re: What should I offer?
Basil,
Run, don't walk. This is not a good deal.
She may think it's priceless. Well, there are other cars in better condition for less money.

I'll sell you mine for $1000, but you'd have to collect it in California (yes, it runs).

Re: What should I offer?
This depends on whether you are looking for a project or a PROJECT. This car sounds like the latter. And the price could stand to be cut by a lot.

Re: What should I offer?
Check with some of the other online Honda groups for the Z600, I saw some
listed.
600miles.com
thisoldhonda.com
O'Conners Honda 600 shop (search for the website)
Steve's 1971 Honda 600 coupe (again search for website)
With the interior tattered as it is and the rust you mentioned $1500.00
seems a little high.

Re: What should I offer?
Hi Basil;
You have heard from the group, rust is not your friend. I am going to pass this on to the 2cylinder group as there are a number of Honda 600 owners in your area. But, before you make any rash discussions, send me the Chassis, engine and date of manufacture numbers, then look at the number on the engine (it's between the heat exchanger and the cylinders on the top part of the case. One of the numbers may be hidden by the clutch cable so a flash light is a good tool. This number should match the engine number on the red plate just above the left front head light, and the chassis number on the black plate just below the latch on the drivers door post.
Let me know what you find out and I will pass along any information I may have.
Bill
