Hello all
Last night I was reinstalling the head studs in the top of my engine
case. The problem is the two long studs when screwed into the case
until they stop they touch the the cranks shaft and prevent it from
moving. I consulted the big blue book and found nothing about this.
Can anyone - Bill - help with this? I thought at first i had
installed them upside down or in the wrong place but it doesnt seem
so....Please help.....
thanks
Dave

Re: Head Studs too long????
Hi Dave:
There are two that are longer than the rest, they are forward and outer
most studs, if yours are anywhere else then they are too long.

thanks bill i will double check the location. Also are the studs
thread locked in the head or just screwed in? Does it matter?

Dave, it is never a good idea to use lock tight on aluminum and if you
think you need to, make sure it is the non hardening type.
