Well, maybe not specifically to the 600, I've had luck with removing said cable, drenching the internals with tons of WD40 by spraying into both ends of the cable, and working the cable in and out of the sleeve.  You should be able to feel the cable loosen up.... Reattach the cable, then check for excessive slack.  Should be good, but I bet somebody else knows a better Honda 600 specific fix for this.

What I did on mine was take a zip lock bag and cut one of the bottom corners out of it. Then stick the cable through this hole and seal it up with a rubber band. Hang the bag from your hood and put some oil in it, and let it set a few hours. Then work the accelarator pedal up and down a few times. Remove bag and wipe off excess oil, and reattach. Should work like new then.

Hi Aaron;
Pick up some cable lubricant from a motor cycle shop. Disconnect it
from the carb and work it into the cable by putting some on the cable and
pulling it back into the housing. This should free it up, if there are
kinks, that is another problem.
Replacing it is better than trying to fix it.
