Yea know, with the cost of restoring a vehicle these days and the
amount of time put into them you would think interested people would
see more value in a well done project Honda 600. I know there are a
number of us that have restored many cars and not just Honda 600's.
Popular vehicles like 57 Chevy's, Mustangs and the like are really
much easer to restore than a make like Honda 600 or AMC Pacer. The
reason is more value is placed on them and there are companies
remaking everything from bolt sets to hubcaps. Maybe parts are not
cheap, but still available. My point is a well running Honda 600
with everything there is worth close to $2500.00. Give or take for
the amount of restoration needed to bring it back to a nice condition
3, but mostly what would normally be viewed as a condition 4
vehicle.
If we ourselves do not place value on these vehicles they will always
be referred to as throwaway cars.

Re: Honda 600 pricing
I have restored two willey's overland wagons while I
was driving my 600. When it broke down and I decided
that I would restore it the condition when I drove it
out of the dealership, or as close as I could get it. I
tore everything down and made up my shopping list. At
the parts department, on my second or third trip, I was
asked why would I want to put this much work into a
throwaway car. My reply to the guy behind the counter
was first it was obvious that he had never driven one.
Especially on a winding road or on a trip for several
days. On the long trips if forced one to slow down a
bit between destinations. You actually got to see the
area you were passing through. On winding roads it
could keep up with more expensive vehicles and handled
just fine. And last but not least when I went into San
Francisco I was able to find parking space that other
vehicles had to pass by. I have had several little
adventures with the 600. Keep it tuned, change the oil,
and watch you speed and it was extremely dependible.
Parts may be hard to find. between the scrapped
knuckles and attempting to bend around to get at one
component or another without taking the car apart. I
still enjoyed owning the car and working on it. I wish
that the vehilces being sold today had as much thought
and high regard for material as the 600 did before they
make it to the showroom.
