I removed the fan pulley from the crank which has the timing marks on it then I went to reinstall it and realized this probably can go on 180 the other way also, how do I know which way is correct?
Thanks,
Elliot
Correct fan pulley installation position
Re: Correct fan pulley installation position
Stick something in the spark plug hole to make sure the piston is all the way up.

Re: Correct fan pulley installation position
That is correct but your only half way there, because this is a 4-stroke engine it can still be
180 out. So to check, open the oil fill cap and check to see that the notch in the cam is showing in the right cam holder (see the bottom picture in the attached page from the shop manual.

I thought about that but how do I know that Camshaft is in the correct position and not halfway through the cycle?

The page #64 is from the Coupe supplement shop manual, which gives all the timing instructions.
It states, if the notch on the belt pulley (on the crank shaft) is at top dead center (TDC) and the notch in the cam is showing lined up in the opening of the left cam holder (drivers side) then the engine is in time. Then set the points and it should be in time.
