Windshield options
Windshield options
Is my only true option for a windshield, finding a good used one? Mine has a small crack starting from the corner and my n600 is stripped and out for paint St the shop. I was hoping maybe I could a new aftermarket
Re: Windshield options
A friend of mine works for Group1, one of the five largest auto dealership chains in the USA. He chased down a brand new windshield for my N600 from a dealer in Chicago, they had two in stock.
The first one was broken in shipment! The second one arrived in good shape.
I was told that was the last one at any Honda dealer in the USA.

Mike: Out of curiosity, what is the name of the dealer in Chicago? I bought my Honda AZ600 new from Horn Oldsmobile, which is now out of business. In 1972, Horn was the only Honda (car) dealer in the Chicago area. If another dealer bought-out Horn's inventory of 600 parts, perhaps the list would like to find that inventory. (Horn was located in Oak Park, IL, the first suburb west of Chicago proper, and home of notables Ernest Hemingway, Frank Lloyd Wright, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Betty White, Sam Giancana, Ray Kroc, Bob Newhart, Norm Van Leir, and James Dewar (inventor of the Hostess Twinkie). And, yes, I did get some of them from Wikipedia. ---Bryan O

Re: Windshield options
The sedan that has been in my care for many years is awaiting a new windshield.
the owners bought one from a glass dealer in the southern states and it arrived
broken, actually they had it at their house in the crate and had never opened it until
I opend it and found it shattered in 3 places.
They are still looking for a new one,
I still have their used one.
I found a company in some northern states who have 3 or 4 new ones but they are
all delaminating and they still want $350ea for them.

Re: Windshield options
Its been 5 years or so since I got that windshield and I dont remember (not sure I ever even knew) the name of the dealer.
Funny, my N600 originaly came from Eskridge Oldsmobile in Oklahoma City. Was it common for Oldsmobile dealers to sell Hondas in the early 70s?

My father worked for a dealership in Utah. Zion Chrysler Plymouth. The first dealership in the state to carry Hondas. So YES, it was common for any type of dealer to carry Honda since Honda dealerships didn't exist yet. He was there from 1969 to 1993. He brought home our 1 st honda. 1974 civic Sent from my iPad

Ha! In gas-rationed America in 1973, dealers of gas-guzzlers were grabbing for any import that could beat 8mpg. Many dealers brought in Toyota, Isuzu, Subaru, Datsun, NSU, Saab, Fiat, Daihatsu, and of course VW was already established, though they insisted their dealers have a separate building for their make, separating them from "dualed" dealerships. I had a 1960 Chevy wagon that I used as a gas-mule to fill my AZ600.
