Vin # California
Vin # California
I just found out one of the found cars I have in my shop has no record in CA. Does anyone know if there is a way to search the Vin for all states or at least ones around California?
Re: Vin # California
The Department of Motor Vehicles for your state can tell you if the vin # has ever been registered in the state. And if it has a license plate, they can tell you if the plate number matches the vin.
From your msg, it sounds like the car does not have plates. The western states where I have seen the most Honda 600s are Washington, Oregon, California, and Arizona. I suggest you check with the DMV in those states and also include Nevada.
The police can also do this and reach into other states but I have found they don't want to spend the time. They can tell you if the vehicle has been reported stolen.
And then there is www.dmv.com which can do a nationwide vin search on your car. This site is a for-profit company.
good luck,
Dale

Really odd. It was not able to find any of my vehicles. Not even my Ridgeline.
Re: Vin # California
If it has not been registered for 7 years it will drop from DMVs system.

Re: Vin # California
AAA was the source that told me it was not on record. Seems CA only keeps registered and non operational vehicles on record. Cars just out there are dropped from the records after a certain amount of years.
