Post by eric.geiger »

Does anyone know how hot an average honda 600 engine will get when running in a normal environment?
curious how hot the aluminum gets on the engine during normal operation.
any info on this is appreciated. Thanks

The fan should keep the temperature under control in city traffic.  On the open rad, air entering the grille should do the same job.  The real question is. "What is hot?"  Do the simple water test.  A drop of water shoud boil off the exhaust manifold, close to the cylinder head.  It should not boil off the cylinder or head fins as that would indicate extremely high internal temps as might be seen by "burned" engine oil.

I'm wondering if it gets higher than say 250 degrees at an idle?
