> The top MPH I got out of my 72 600 coupe was 110 mph (had a friend in a Camaro as my chase car to verify my top speed). It took me about 2 miles of just holding the pedal to the floor get there but it broke the 100 mph at about 9000 RPM... This was on a perfectly level road with 85 degree Texas weather. The motor sound was like a swarm of bees buzzing. The little car holds the road pretty well at high speeds. Didn't blow any plugs or have any problems at all. What killed this engine was towing my boat with it... 36 HP pulling a 17 foot sailboat at 60 MPH is just asking for motor failure. Had a rod start knocking, but then again I had almost 100,000 miles on the crank and I knew it was going to go... These are the greatest little cars I have ever owned... I have 4 of them, 3 coupes and 1 sedan. I treat them all with much more kindness now then I use to. They deserve it... I'm in the process of installing a Turbocharger on one of them. Got to workout the oiling issues. Let's keep'm run'in...
