A big thanks to all who provide the much needed knowledge and experience to get my 1971 AN600 running again. Being a 600 enthusiast, but a novice on the mechanic side (high school auto shop cerca 1975ish), provided me with some major hurtles to overcome. The info provide by various members of the group, certainly pointed me in the right direction.
1st found that there was a short in the wire from the coil to the points- fixed that, got spark but no ignition.
2nd found that yes indeed the fuel pump was working, but gas was funky. Changed to new fuel. Still no ignition.
3rd cleaned the carb, removed cleaned and gapped the plugs. Got semi-ignition, but not a good one.
4th rechecked the timing- it was a bit off.
5th- BINGO! We have lift off!
Proof that with enough help and guidance, even a novice can get a Honda an600 on the road again.
Thanks, now just need a few cosmetics. Where does one find door rubber and window rubber?
Dave

door rubber
I too need door rubber. I know this has been a topic of discussion before but the stuff that's available is too thick. I seem to recall that someone was going to have it made to the proper dimensions?

Awesome Dave
Nice to see there is one more running.. I dont know about the window rubber but I tryed the diamond shaped stuff from JC whitney that a few had said works but the stuff I got was to thick and I had to slam my door closed to get it to work. Seems the manufacturer changed it (it may be different now). I ended up using the press on diamond shaped stuff and it worded great but does not hide the edge and inside where the original covered.

NO. 3 is the one I tried but the new product was to thick of rubber for the door to close so I went with http://www.jcwhitney.com/STICK_ON_REPLA ... 008661;0;0 NO.
2 but like I said it does not go around the medal. I am sure some one else will have some other ideas to try. Good luck. JC Whitney is a fun place to look around at least.

All
It's to bad the diamond shaped rubber is no longer what it was. It was some really nice stuff.
Next way is to look at anything that will be with in the same dimensions as the diamond shaped weather stripping was. If you receive the JC Whitney catalog 2009 issue, page 73 in the "Push On Trim Weatherstrip with the full bulb # 2 in the picture group has number WW132561 for a roll of 25 ft. for $44.99. The bulb is 3/4 in. which is a bit smaller (the diamond shaped was 13/16) and will need some pushing to close but will give a good seal and not rattle. The latch catch can also be moved out a bit to keep from slamming the door until the rubber forms to the door.
The alternative is Metro Molded parts, located in Minnesota. I found item ME053C to be the best fit for the side windows on a sedan and ME059E to be the best fit from them for the doors.
Both must be glued into place and have a rubber face. My prices are old so you will have to contact them for pricing and availability.
