Hi All,
I decided to dive farther into my engine and remove the cylinders
to
install a new gasket and I dont like the look of the timing chain
rollers or guide rail.
For those that have more experience on these could you look at my
pictures and tell me if this is just typical wear or if these are
need
of replacing?
If these are too bad is there anyone with some good used ones and if
the lower roller is also too bad do the engine cases have to be split
to replace this?
Thanks,
Mike

Need some opinions
Re: Need some opinions
The obvious choice is to replace all worn rubber parts, but to get
the lower roller out you have to split the cases. As long as you have
a new or newer chain you should be ok with the lower. The slipper is
still intact and useable. Lots of them get so worn the place for the
top slipper pin wears away and usually the lower pin point cracks and
breaks off.
The guide roller looks pretty bad to me, I would try to find a better
one.
You need to measure the piston ring lands and check the crank for
possible wear that would cause a knock. When the ring lands wear the
rings can crack. Definately replace the cam chain if you have never
done it.
