Re: honda tire's

Post by friend »

Re: honda tire's

Post by Kevin Lister »

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the info!
I believe the correct inflation is 32 psi front, and 24 psi rear. I'm thinking that these inflations are for the original bias-ply tires and may not necessarily be required for my modern tires. I'm currently running 34 to 36 on the front and 26 to 28 in the rear.
I can tell you it does drive better with 34 to 36 psi in the front and so far I'm not seeing any wear problems. But, the tires have not been on long.
I'm not tire expert so I'm gonna go by how the car feels at this point. If the tires start to show abnormal wear then I'll adjust the psi and check the alignment again.
I'm gonna ask Miles to give me a hand with adjusting the brakes this weekend. Now that summer school is over I can spend some time tweaking on the car.

Ah, yes, I see. Makes sense.
6 bikes for $300? Man, that's a great deal! I guess it helps to have a business. ;o)

honda tires, lost-n-found

Post by Dan Vann »

Alright guys,
I've read with great interest, the input and insight on 10" tires and this is what I've found outside the group.
And while I'm of the opinion that "used boat trailer tires" may be an option, only as a last resort!
And golfcart rims have come a long way, including DOT approval, I don't know how to make their 41/2" bolt pattern work with the 110 of a Honda !?
Anyhoo....... checked with my tire guy today and he says Yokohama (my personal preferance) and at 44psi....... are currently being manufactured in Japan and could/should be here in 6/8 weeks........ at a cost of $132 ea. !!!
I then called TireRack and was told with the recent oil prices there has been a run on these tires and basically the same story about production and delivery to the states - but their price will be approx. $81 ea.
Then there's Mike, in Statesville NC, who has Kuhmos isted on ebay for $175 set of 4....I think!? his ebay ID is hondawizard.
There's also a 480/10 bias ply made by BF Goodrich, tube type that looks very similiar to the original, (also available in white wall), $88 ea. plus $13 for a tube.
I'm holding out for the Yokohamas!.....and have one more source to check if I can't wait 2 months......
but I have 2 never mounted BF Goodriches & tubes,
along with those, all purchased in 2000, I have 2 more that are mounted on 600 rims that I used to mobilize my 600 for transport and refurbish with a few 1/2 mile test drives and brake checks thrown in......... I'm willing to sell as 2 pairs or all 4(2 of which are mounted).
I paid $80 plus freight and tax for each tire/tube combo and will consider any reasonable offer.
Dan in NC
PS......about "shelflife" .......they ain't pretty and I wouldn't run them on the highway but....
my 600 had a set of Dunlops on the rear when I purchased it in 1982....... all that time, including sitting OUTSIDE in Upstate NY, for 17 years....... and they still hold air and roll....
and I still use them for misc. transport.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the info!
