Paige,
I just called my local Honda dealer's parts dept and he said he can order them to pick up in three days.
He mentioned that they were "old numbers", whatever that means, but had prices for each. I ordered the one that ends in "A" - a $5 item
We shall see.

I occasionally give a list of Honda Wanted items to my Honda dealer.
They will go through it and check with Honda vintage parts warehouse
before getting my hopes up.
The mirror base you are looking for comes with the mirror, part #
88140-623-670 (old number) and 053548 (Honda Code). The only thing I
see ending with an A is a screw. These are from my original parts
book dated 1977.
If you had the interest, you could have a company CNC a batch of the
bases from aluminum and sel them.

hi, miles
i sure hope you're wrong about the part number (we'll see in a couple of days when steve gets in touch with me) but with all your knowledge, you probably aren't--hope they don't expect me to pay 5 bucks for one screw--
thanks for the update and reality check regarding parts sources from japan
too good to be true

Wouldn't be surprised. I've paid over $5 for a small brass crush washer before.

Thanks for the reminder. I called my local parts dept and they tell me it's being "cross shipped from another warehouse" and I won't get it until Monday. Will have to wait until then to see if it is the correct thing.
