z600 inside mirror mount

hi--my car is almost complete, but the plastic mirror mount is TOTALLY
crumbled and i need a new one-----does any one have a solution?--

Mine is fairly beat up as well - just hanging on. I have considered drilling through the mirror base to bolt it directly to the roof, using the bolts that are holding the mount, or maybe slightly longer ones. I don't like the idea of drilling holes in the mirror base though.
