Carburetor Rebuilder

Post by Bruce »

Hi to the group,
Since there seems to be a recent increase in carburetor trouble I am offering my skills as a
carb rebuilder. I have been rebuilding these carbs since the cars were a couple of years old.
How time flies!
I have located the replacement parts needed to properly complete the rebuild. I have the
gaskets and seals, correctly sized float needle and seats, floats and accelerator pumps. All
the stuff that gets worn out and should be replaced when doing a rebuild.
The cost is $175 including parts and postage back to you. Turn around time is about a week.
On a separate note. I have started to locate the parts to rebuild crankshafts.
Send me a note off group if interested in any of these services.

I'm not looking to get into some sort of "mine is better or bigger than yours" thing here.
But, if a carburetor is not rebuilt with a new float, the proper sized float needle and seat, a
new accelerator pump and properly disassembled, cleaned, reassembled and adjusted
then it is not a rebuild and can not be relied on to work like it did when new. If not
correctly done then you can't expect the performance and mileage that these cars should
have.
All of the correct parts are not cheap. Simply spraying the inside of the carburetor with a
can of carb cleaner or soaking it for a while in cleaner is not enough either. The float
needle and seats that you commonly see on ebay are not the correct size and can lead to
fuel starvation.
