The previous owner of my Z600 installed an aftermarket electric fuel
pump with a pressure regulator. I think the manufacturer is FACET.
Anyway, how do I dial in the right pressure without buying too much
equipment? Is there a simple way to do this? Pressure dial rus from
0-5 in 1/2 increments. Set on two now and I seem to have a lot of gas
in my oil. Also, I bought a new drain plug and it came with a
composite washer. Old drain plug had a metal washer. What was

Hi Bill,
The correct fuel pump pressure is 2 psi. If you are getting gas in your
oil, I suspect your needle and seat in the carb is defective (or dirty) and
gas in being pumped into the intake manifold.

Sounds like the needle and seat in the carb is leaking. Gas in the oil is
bad as the oil gets diluted and gas is an extremely poor lubricant. Your
engine is running on borrowed time if this is the case.
If you have a lathe, you can repoint the needle and then lap it onto the
seat. Could also be the oring around the seat is shot. You can wrap the
remaining oring with teflon tape and force it back in. (Which is what I did.
Teflon will hold up forever and seal around the bad oring. Of course, you
can replace the oring if you have a replacement.)
Around 2 pounds pressure sounds okay on the fuel pressure.
Of course, as easy as it is to pull the carb off. you can see if it's
leaking gas by seeing if gas pours out it with it off and the gas line still
connected (key on).
