WHAT IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUPE AND SEDAN ENGINE AS I HAVE A COUPE BUT
PURCHASED A SPARE SEDAN ENGINE JUST IN CASE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUPE AND SEDAN ENGINES
Re: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUPE AND SEDAN ENGINES
for one thing, the sedan engine is not set up for a tach. There is a bit that bolts to the side of the camshaft head (the right side as you face it from the front of the car) that is not present on a sedan engine. Also the camshaft on a coupe is different in that it is set up to receive the end of the tach cable.
Having said all that, I have a sedan engine in my coupe.

Re: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUPE AND SEDAN ENGINES
Two other differences are the cam case top (engine lid) the breather hose points to the other side of the carb, and the rear engine mount is different (3 bolts Coupe, 2 bolts Sedan).
Don't think any of it is a big deal. You've got spares to keep the ride rolling, and that's what matters.

Re: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUPE AND SEDAN Trans
Don't forget the early sedan engines are non synchromesh, Any engine
with N600E-10_____ is a non synchro. And actually the engine rear
mounts are the same, it's the steel rear bracket for coupe that has
3 mount holes, as the engine case always has only 2 8mm mounting
bolts.
The really early sedan cam box lids have the breather mounted with
rivets and the later lids have rivets and welds. The early sedan
cranks have smaller big ends on the conn. rods than the coupes. The
early sedans have o-rings on the 2 center rear cylinder studs and if
you forget to install them, plan on a tear down as soon as you
remember! The early sedan engines also have 2 mounting studs for the
carb manifold instead of 2 bolts. The early sedans have round damper
rubbers and the later sedans & coupes have trapazoid shaped rubbers.
When the round dampers fail the car stops moving and before that
happens, your oil pump will plug up from the debris and your top end
will suffer.
Better check your engine number!
