I have found a '72 coupe for $1500. Haven't had a chance to drive
yet, but they say it runs great. They also mentioned that it has a
tricky reverse - you have to wait quite awhile (10-20 seconds) in
neutral before it will shift to reverse. Could this be a synchro?
Otherwise they say it runs great - around 90k original? miles on the
clock and stored for 8 years. If there isn't a lot of body rot -
does it sound like a fair deal? I am curious if the transmission
issue is a common one and how involved the fix might be. Thanks very
much!
Andy
Pls advise newbie - possible purchase of my first 600!

To me the price you pay for a car that needs work is subjective. I would
say that if you are prepared to take the time it takes to deal with the body
rot and all the other issues that may reveal themselves as time goes on, and
considering the rarity of the thing, sure, why not. You might be able to
find a better Coupe for less, but where? And when?
Here is a less subjective opinion...they say you're getting a good deal...
