A better idea is to get a Honda Life engine/trans setup and bore it to hold
a 600 piston. It's water cooled can support dual carbs and should bolt up?
Never measured one so it's hard to say. Miles, you owned one a while back,
is there a future here?

I think it was the N360 that they used the N600 pistons to make the N500.
They knocked the sleeves out of the 360 and put bigger sleeves in.
They machined the tops out of the pistons so that they would clear the 360 head and valves.
They also cut the skirts of them also.
I have a set of them for my dual carb head that is going on the 600 engine.

Hi Robert;
So your saying the 360 Life has cylinder sleeves?
That would make it very easy to resleeve but without knowing what the differences are between the two engines it would be hard to know if that is all it would do.  Do you have a brake down of the engine?  Are the cylinders separate like the N360 and N600 engines?

Robert,
Is your dual carb head a 360 head? Would you share how you set it up for dual
carbs and what carbs you use?
Thanks!

I’m not talking about the Life engine. I think the Life engine is referred to as the AE engine.
What I’m talking about is the same as our but 360cc.
They have made that engine with single carb and dual carb .
The dual carb head is what I have that was being converted to be used on N600 engine.
The lower cases for the N360 and N600 were made different for the oil to be pumped up to the top end. My engine that is in pieces has had a lot of the mods done to allow for the proper oiling with the dual carb 360 head run on it.
I just need to finish what someone else started and put it into a car.
In Japan when they made there race N500 cars they started with the N360 punched out the sleeves and put bigger 74mm sleeves in.
This would allow the N600 piston to be installed.
The domes of the 600 pistons have to be machined so that they don’t interfere with the valves.
They would sometime take a single carb head and block the intake area off and cut and machine new intake ports on the back of the head for dual carbs also.
I have picture of head on Miles Yahoo group picture page.
I will see about putting pictures of the piston that can with the motor and the piston I just bought for it on Miles and the SouthEast group picture pages.

Yes it is the 360 dual carb
head.
I haven’t spend a lot of time with this motor other than looking at the previous work that was done.
I have researched the differences between the 360 head and the 600 head so that I
could tell If what I have is right or wrong for proper operation.
The carbs that I have are brand new and are stock for the n360 engine.
There are other replacement carbs that the Japanese used that I’m looking into to try on it also.

360 Life

Post by Miles »

The 360 Life has liquid cooling and the engine is similar or
identical to the USA sold EM5000 Generator by Honda. I used to have
the shop & parts book for the EM5000 when I had my Life, but gave
them to the guy who bought the Life.

Yes, in reply to not having the Life, I have not the Life, the Life
has been sold some 15 years ago, it had a rodknock and may have had a
short life.
