How about a replacement fuel pump? Is it the same as the one in the early civic?

   You know I never tried one, but I believe they look close, but didn't they have 3 bolts to hold them down vice the 2 for the Honda 600?  I think so,  But if so they ran all the way up to 76 like that.  But your pump has to be pushing more than the 600 did.
might be a problem there.  Worth a try if you have one.
