for all transactions, is this true? If so, I will stop using e-bay. I
believe it is one of my freedoms to pay as I chose according to the deal
made. Making it hard for users to use e-bay will send all of us to
craigs list.

Hey All,
Just another note about this:
I checked with a close friend who sells on Ebay occasionally, and
they made him accept Paypal just to sell, and since he doesn't have a
lot of sales, they made him USE Paypal. He is planning to shuck Ebay
because he said that he has no negatives in his 90+ sales, and some
people don't leave feedback to raise his numbers, so why should they
decide how he does business with his customers? What exactly is a
risky catagory, anyway? And not all sellers are required to use
Paypal? No... just the little guys who don't make them very much
money!
And as for me... do they honestly think that I'd let ANYONE touch my
checking account to guarantee payment of anything? Certainly not E-
bay, the guys who don't even respond to complaints from their
customers! If they won't solve my problems as a buyer, what makes me
think they would fix a problem involving my checking account (the one
that they make me let them into for a Paypal guarantee)? Are these
guys nuts????

Don; Send them an e-mail on the subject. They are a company and if enough of us poke them with the same problem they will change. If no one talks to them they will keep doing what they are doing now. But you saw the answer they gave me. Not everyone is required to use the paypal payment plan. I chose not to, and have sold less than 10 items on e-bay and I was not told to use paypal. Freedom of Choice, I use daily. Bill

In October, right before christmas sales season, Every eBay seller will only accept PayPal. It is coming for everyone. Craiglist (which eBay also owns) here we come.

The sucky thing about pay pal is there is no sliding scale as it is in real estate. When the price reaches certain established levels the percentage they take should be less which would encourage sellers to accept pay pal you as a buyer you can get airline miles on your credit card.
